About this work
Kabuki actor Ichikawa Kodanji IV in the role of the ghost of Igarashi, with blood coming from her mouth and over her hands. The blue makeup around the red-rimmed eyes, together with the wild hair and hanging hands, indicates that an actor is depicted here as a female ghost. The flames in the background also indicate the presence of a spirit.
