About this work
Louis XIV confers the Order of the Holy Spirit (Cordon Bleu de l'Ordre du Saint-Esprit) on his grandson Louis (the future King Louis XV), son of Louis of France, Dauphin of France and Duke of Burgundy, 1710. The child is held by his mother, Maria Adelaide of Savoy. The order was traditionally conferred on the children of the king, immediately after their birth.
