About this work

In a richly furnished interior, on the left in the foreground sits an old man, the father of the prodigal son, with a hat with plumes on his head, on a chair. In front of him two women show him a wide flat lace collar. The son stands in shirt and breeches and is helped into a doublet by a servant. A young servant holds his cloak. On a table lies his cap with plume.
