About this work

Second print in a series of eight depictions of the life of Johan and Cornelis de Witt. All prints are by Gaspar Bouttats and have a verse of four or two lines. In the depiction it can be seen how Prince William III must ask Johan de Witt and the States for permission for his appointment.
