About this work

Design for a clock case in the form of an oval medallion with an ornamental border decorated with stylized leaves and a mermaid; in the center, a scene of a naked couple sitting under a tree, the man (Adonis) has his arm around the woman (Venus) and points with his other arm into the distance, with a lying dog behind them.
