About this work

Design for a clock case in the form of an oval medallion with an ornamental border decorated with stylized leaves and satyrs; in the center, a scene of Venus trying to prevent Adonis from going hunting. Adonis, however, goes hunting anyway; he carries a spear and two hunting dogs stand next to him.
