About this work

Tamiya Iemon with a fan and behind him his servant Akiyama Chobei, look at the ghostly apparition of Iemon's wife Oiwa. In her hand, Oiwa carries a cage for fireflies, but her shadow reveals that she is a ghost. Iemon had given his wife poison, causing her to become disfigured and commit suicide. In revenge, she continues to haunt her husband.
