About this work

The Dead Christ is carried into the tomb and mourned by, among others, angels, Mary, John, and Mary Magdalene. On the right stands a man holding a bowl with a sponge. On the ground lie the instruments of the Passion: nails and a crown of thorns. A putto displays the Veil of Veronica.
