About this work

Piet van Dort, who called himself the Burgomaster of the Plunderers, and the lemon and dried herring seller Mat van den Nieuwendijk are hanged at the Waag in Amsterdam. Both were participants in the Tax Farmers' Riot. The militia opens fire on the spectators.
