About this work
Piet van Dort, who called himself the Mayor of the Plunderers, and the lemon and dried sole seller Mat van den Nieuwendijk are hanged at the Waag in Amsterdam. Both were participants in the Tax Farmers' Riot. The militia opens fire on the spectators.
