About this work

The bandit Onna Kansuke draws his sword while pulling up the sleeve of his kimono with his teeth. Onna Kansuke (Onna means 'woman') was notorious for his feminine appearance, which often misled many enemies. Onna Kansuke is here played by kabuki actor Iwai Shijaku II.
