On the right stands Aesculapius beside a rooster on a console; he holds an esculap staff. Above the frame are medical instruments and books. In the upper left, Pegasus causes the Hippocrene spring to gush forth. On the right, the young Aesculapius stands beside the centaur Chiron, who raised him. Between these scenes is a Latin text with information about the sitter. In the lower left, a putto holds a laurel wreath, a palm branch, and a serpent biting its own tail as a symbol of eternity. In the lower right, a putto sits on a skull blowing bubbles as a vanitas symbol. Between the putti is an eight-line Latin text.
