About this work

A decorative composition with strapwork and arches. At the top of the arches, a medallion with Hercules and Antaeus, flanked by two half-figures. On top of the arches sit birds, an eagle and an owl chased by a cat and a dog. Under the arches hang two birdcages. In the center, Orpheus sits with his lyre under an arch of two trees with monkeys. On the left and right, two bacchantes dance. In the center below stand a unicorn and a stag on either side of a seated lion. On the left and right below, oval medallions. The print is part of an album. Most likely a mirrored copy after a French original.
