About this work

A decorative composition consisting of three panels with interlaced work. Left: a fountain in the form of a vase supported by a bearded head with oars. Below, two half-figures hold a shell with the initials of Louis XIV. At the bottom, a tablet with a merman on a dolphin. In the center, an Asian man is worshipped by two Asian figures. At the top, two monkeys sit. At the bottom, a medallion with a portrait and two caryatids. Right: birds, caryatids, a censer, and a sphinx. Print is part of an album. Most likely a mirrored copy after a French original.
