Statue of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary from the convent of the Holy Dominicans (Santo Domingo), Cádiz

Our Lady of the Holy Rosary was venerated as the patron saint of the Spanish silver fleet. She was also said to have protected the city during the tsunami of 1755. On either side of the image of Mary stand the statues of Servandus and Germanus on two pillars, erected in 1705 at the Puerta del Mar in Cádiz. At the foot of the pillars on the left a Dominican nun and on the right Saint Dominic. Behind the image a view of Cádiz. Below the image stand four monks and the Bishop of Cádiz, Tomás del Valle, behind an altar. Against the altar waves crash, according to the text the tsunami of 1755.
