About this work

Dinner given in a large hall at the court of Emperor Maximilian II in Vienna (1560). The emperor and empress sit in the background on the left under a large canopy with a small company at a table. Separated by a low fence in front of them are numerous nobles and soldiers. On the left, a group of musicians is depicted playing trombones, shawms, and a traverso. On the right in the background, valuable tableware is displayed. On the left is a huge tiled stove.
