Prime Minister Kuyper protects the Swiss Dr. Theophil Mende Ernst against an angry crowd of Leiden professors who try to prevent his appointment as professor at the University of Leiden. The homeopath Mende Ernst was accused of quackery. Kuyper stands here for homeopathy.
