About this work

Depiction of the cruelties committed by French troops in Dutch villages in the year 1672, copied from the prints by Romeyn de Hooghe from 1673 (FMH 2439). The scene shows the killing of the inhabitants of a village by the water. To the right, burning houses and a rape; to the left, several boats. In the middle, a French soldier with a struggling child at the end of his lance. The print is numbered: 6.
