View of the Dam in Amsterdam. To the left of the center, the Town Hall. To the right of the center, the New Church with its never-completed tower, and in front of it, the Waag. Top left, the city coat of arms. To the left front, the shop of Hendrick Hondius II, 'the Brave Dog', with a dog as a shop mark on the facade. On the Dam, market traders and merchants; to the right front, goods on the quay. In the caption, the dedication, and below it, three lines of text in Latin.
