About this work
Plan of the Amsterdam Schouwburg on the Keizersgracht. In the lower right the title, below it the scale bar: Scale of 80 Amsterdam feet. This city theater was designed by Jacob van Campen and was built on the site of the Nederduitse Academie of Samuel Coster (at the location of the current Keizersgracht 384). On December 26, 1637, the opening took place. In 1665 the building was extensively renovated and in 1772 it burned down.
