View of the Third Heiligeweg Gate and the associated bridge in Amsterdam, seen from outside the city. Various figures on the bridge, in the boats and along the quay. This city gate, designed by Jacob van Campen, was built between 1636 and 1638 to replace the wooden Second Heiligeweg Gate. After the Fourth Expansion and the construction of the Leidse Gate (1664), this building had lost its function as a city gate; it was demolished that same year.
