About this work

Tableau vivant. Henry IV, dressed as Hercules, consults with Mars and Minerva on how to reunite France. Mercury points to the gods in the clouds. Justice is still trapped under the globe of the split French Empire and is assisted by Peace. Scene used in the water theatre on the Rokin. Plate 11 of the illustrations accompanying the description of the festivities surrounding the visit of Maria de' Medici to Amsterdam from 31 August to 5 September 1638.
