About this work
The Carousel of the World. A carousel in which wind traders standing in the buckets try to obtain share certificates that are scattered by figures (a farmer, and original inhabitants of the South Sea, Mississippi, and West Indies) standing on the poles of the carousel. In the foreground, other gentlemen wait for their ride in the carousel; on the right, desperate actionists. In the background on the left Vianen, on the right ships at sea. With a caption in four columns by Philadelphus. Print 38 in the series The Great Mirror of Folly with satirical prints on Wind Trading or Share Trading of 1720.
