About this work
Celestial map showing the heliocentric system of Nicolaas Copernicus. In the center is the sun, surrounded by the orbits of the planets and the Earth around the sun. Four moons are visible around Jupiter, discovered by Galileo Galilei in 1610. In the outer ring is the zodiac. The map features a degree scale along the edges. Title cartouches in the upper left and right corners. In the lower left and right corners, a scene with a seated cartographer, likely representing Nicolaas Copernicus and Aristarchus of Samos. Numbered in the lower right corner: 4.
