About this work

Celestial map of the heliocentric system of Nicolaus Copernicus. In the outer ring, the zodiac. The title in a scroll above the map. At bottom right, a scene of Urania with representations of the systems of Ptolemy, Copernicus, and Brahe. At bottom left, a scene explaining how a solar eclipse occurs. Surrounding the scene, putti with astronomical and geometric instruments. Top left, the Sun, Jupiter, and Saturn, for comparison of relative size.
