View of the ruin of Nieuwburg Castle, in the situation around 1726, with the city of Alkmaar in the background. This castle was built in the thirteenth century on the orders of Floris V and suffered heavy damage in the fifteenth century before being largely demolished in the first half of the sixteenth century.
