About this work

Portrait of Maurice, Prince of Orange, in allegorical representation. He is depicted standing, turned to the right, the left hand resting on his sword. Behind him are armorial bearings: harness and helmet. He stands in a cartouche held up by Mars (right) and Minerva (left). In the middle top are arms with crown, above which Fama with two trumpets. At the bottom, in cartouche, 6 lines of text in Latin. Left and right of cartouche attributes of war.
