About this work
A man sits on the ground and looks through his spectacles at the owl on his hand (thinking he sees a falcon). Behind him two fools each with a marot (fool's scepter) in hand. The proverb illustrates the notion that everyone thinks they have or are the best. Below the image an explanatory Latin verse by Franco Estius and a Dutch text in book type.
