About this work
Depiction of one of the wisdoms according to the book of Ecclesiastes (no. 7). In an interior family members mourn the deceased, a phase in the life of every human being. According to Ecclesiastes we must seek sorrow because it benefits the heart. The man who enters through the open door possibly takes this wisdom to heart and enters a house full of mourning. In the margin below a verse with six lines of Latin.
