About this work
The first scene shows a woman who brings her two small children to school. The schoolmaster stands in the porch and beckons the children inside. The youngest child does not want to and cries. Above this scene two portraits. One of an unknown man with a pipe. Bust to the right. A portrait of an unknown old woman. Bust to the left. The fourth scene shows a mother who teaches her child to walk by means of a harness and a leash. The girl helps her sister. Both children hold a doll. In the fifth scene a woman is in conversation with an old farmer. Her little girl holds a doll.
