About this work
The female personification of the continent Africa sits on a crocodile. She holds an olive branch in her hand. In the background to the left, African animals such as lions, elephants and dromedaries. To the right, strange creatures, such as a basilisk, manticore and chameleon. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a four-part series with personifications of the four continents.
