About this work

In the foreground Aeolus, god of the wind. He sits on a cloud with the four wind directions. Around him lie winter fruits. In the background scenes of winter: people skating, gathering wood, the slaughter of cattle for the winter and winter storms. Above in the sky the three astrological signs of winter: Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a four-part series on the four seasons.
