About this work
The emperor (Roman King Conrad III) has taken the city of Winbergen (Weinsberg), 21 December 1140. The townspeople are asked to leave the city and may take what they can carry. The women of Winbergen choose to carry their husbands out of the city on their backs so that they do not fall into captivity. Page from a book with text on the verso.
