About this work
In the foreground David kneels before Jonathan, because Jonathan has kept his promise. In the background Jonathan shoots arrows towards the cave where David hides. A young servant picks up the arrows. Through this action David knows that Saul wants to kill him. The print has a Latin inscription with explanation and, in the right corner, a verse from Psalm 6.
