About this work
On the threshing floor of the Jebusite Araunah, King David has built an altar. He kneels before the altar and offers oxen in the hope of stopping a plague that is ravaging the land. Araunah looks on. Above him flies the angel of death who caused the plague. In the background a plain strewn with victims of the plague. The print has a Latin inscription with explanation and, in the right corner, a verse from Psalm 129.
