About this work

In a rocky landscape with trees, Saint Jerome is depicted on the right in the foreground, bent over a book. In his right hand he holds writing implements. In front of him lie a skull and an inkwell on a piece of stone. On the rock in front of him lies a cloak and a cardinal's hat. To the right stands a cross, and in the background two lions face each other.
