Dedicated nocturnal study with an emphasis on drawing is also the central theme in the second print of Bandinelli's 'Academia'. However, the study material here is more extensive: in addition to sculpture, there are bones, skeletons, and books. Drawing from skeletons was considered the only way to depict the human figure without error. The stack of books on the shelf reflects the ideal of the artist as a scholar. None of the figures are drawing from a model: they are so advanced that they are now able to draw from memory according to their own ideas.
