About this work

Venus orders Psyche to collect wool from a flock of sheep with a golden fleece. On the left, Venus points Psyche toward the sheep on the other side of a river. On the right, Psyche is with the sheep and among the reeds that whispered advice on how to collect the wool. Italian text in two cartouches in the lower margin. Numbered twice in the lower left: 23.
