About this work

Portrait of Jacques de la Faille (1548–1615), colonel of the Antwerp civic guard, later merchant in Haarlem after 1584. Standing, turned to the left, right hand resting on a helmet, left hand on a sword. Dressed in fine attire. In an oval with a border inscription. Pendant to the portrait of his wife Josina Hamels.
