Portrait of a man with (probably) a partisan (pole weapon) in his right hand. Previously also identified as Jan Dircksz. Schatter, captain in Haarlem. On the right, on a tree stump, a small shield with a flower and the motto 'Hodie: Cras nihil' below it. In the background a battle. Below the image a four-line Latin poem.
