About this work

Round representation of Phaëthon, naked, falling under a radiant sun, the sun chariot of his father and the horses that pulled that chariot in the air behind him. On the background a bay with burning buildings on the coast. Around the representation a border text in Latin. This print is part of a series of four falling men: Tantalus, Icarus, Phaëthon and Ixion.
