About this work

Circular composition of Ixion, naked, falling between smoke clouds in the darkness. In the background right a depiction of Ixion's punishment for his attempt to seduce Hera: he was bound to a burning wheel. Around the composition a Latin border inscription. This print is part of a series of four falling men: Tantalus, Icarus, Phaëthon and Ixion.
