About this work

Amidst an army stands the naked Mars as ruler over the martial arts on a pedestal. He holds a sword and a halberd in his hands, a shield leans against his leg. Around Mars, soldiers are arranged on foot and horseback, in the foreground a drummer. In the sky, the symbols of the zodiac signs Aries (left) and Scorpio (right).
