Initiation of a new Bentvueghel, ca. 1700. Amidst the group members, in the darkness, a new member of the Bentvueghels, the group of Dutch artists in Rome, is initiated with a ceremony involving the kneeling handing over of the Bentbrief and baptism with wine. With drawn caricatures on the wall, in the background a drinking party.
