About this work

Balaam looks out over the desert and sees the tribes of the people of Israel encamped there. He utters an oracle concerning the people of Israel. Balak stands beside him. In the background, the seven altars of sacrifice are visible. On each, Balak has just sacrificed a bull and a ram.
