About this work

The Israelites worship the golden calf (Exodus 32). This is a violation of the First Commandment: "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me." In the background, Moses breaks the stone tablets with the Ten Commandments, and the Levites kill three thousand Israelites on Moses' command. The print has a Latin caption. The print series depicts the Ten Commandments through scenes from the Old Testament.
