About this work

Judah orders the fire to be lit to burn his daughter-in-law Tamar. He wants to punish her because she has behaved like a prostitute and has become pregnant. Tamar, however, shows him his staff and signet ring, with which she proves that he has made her pregnant. Then Judah admits that he is guilty and Tamar is not. At the bottom in the margin a verse in Latin.
