About this work

Portico with the coat of arms of the Labes family at the top and below a motto taken from Pliny: 'Ipsorum tunc imperatorum manibus colebantur agri'. Within the frame a landscape with on the left Johann, Freiherr von Labes, giving orders to a group of farm labourers trying to push a stone away. Behind them a trophy or sign of blessing built up from tools used to cultivate the land.
