Canto XXXIX from 'Orlando Furioso'. Five knights hold Ariosto in check, who is tied to an overturned boat. Astolphus holds a bottle under Ariosto's nose in which his mind is kept. As soon as he has sniffed the contents, he comes to his senses again. Bottom left numbered: 11.
