About this work

Canto XXIX from 'Orlando Furioso'. Ariosto and Rodomonte engage in a fight on the bridge leading to the mausoleum that Rodomonte had built in honour of Isabella. The men fall into the water, after which the armoured Rodomonte drowns. In the background Fordelis looks at the weapons of knights defeated by Rodomonte attached to the wall of the mausoleum. Bottom left numbered: 9.
